Rape is an atrocious crime where rapists are rightfully despised. There are several severe laws against rape and sexual assault. The media, leftist politicians, and feminists say that 1 in 5 women will get raped in their four-year college career. While rape has been a serious problem for decades, there is certainly no evidence that there is a national rape epidemic, or that rape or sexual assault is the social norm in this age. Rape rates, in fact, have been on a decline for the past century. The 1 in 5 number is not true. The notion that 1 in 5 young women will get raped in her college career should give you a sense of urgency that out of the 500 young women in your junior class, 100 of them will fall victim to this statistic. Well,†¦show more content†¦To the point where professors, according to Harvard Law Professor Jeannie Suk in a recent study, aren’t able to put rape-related questions on tests by request of rape survivors because they fear that they won’ t perform as well. Some campuses now have to be careful to not allow such art or speech on grounds because some students might â€Å"trigger† some memories of this crime. For example a few years ago in the all-women’s Wellesley College, the student body protested to take down a sculpture of a sleepwalking man wearing just underwear because they believed it served little more than just to trigger sexual assault survivors. An incident in Scripps College disinvited Pulitzer Prize-winning commentator George Will to speak at their campus because he questioned and belittled this so-called ‘rape epidemic’. Liberal states like California and New York now have affirmative consent laws that make it easier for sex to become rape, such as if the person doesn’t resist or speak during the time of intercourse, that would still be considered rape. Feel compassion for the poor college students who have to handle and are caught in the middle of such chaos this statistic caused.
